Square, heavy, and covered in quilted diamonds from base to collar — this 1962 Seagram's 7 Crown decanter is Mid-Century barware at its most satisfying. The all-over embossed diamond pattern gives it a richly textured look that catches the light from every angle, and the stopper takes it even further with its own diamond facets and four individual diamond points at the top. Several pour spouts ring the collar for easy, elegant decanting.
The bottom carries the embossing "Federal Law Forbids Sale Or Reuse Of This Bottle" — a period detail that tells you exactly how seriously America took its whiskey in 1962 — along with the Thatcher Manufacturing Co. mark (MTC). Originally sold with Seagram's 7 Crown Blended Whiskey, now empty and ready for a new purpose on your bar cart or shelf.
A great gift for the dad who loves Mid-Century Modern design, vintage barware, or simply a decanter that looks like it belongs in a Mad Men episode.
Seagram's 7 Crown is one of the best-selling American blended whiskeys of all time, first produced in 1934. The "7" in the name refers to the original seven-year aging process. At its peak in the 1970s and 80s, Seagram's 7 was the best-selling distilled spirit in the United States. Thatcher Manufacturing Co. of Elmira, New York was one of America's premier glass bottle makers, operating from 1884 through the mid-20th century — their bottles are collectible in their own right.
